This common misperception with avian bones started many many years ago when people would typically feed their dogs the scraps from the kitchen. Even in today's world when you go to a restaurant and you get a to-go container — what's it referred to as? A doggy box or doggy bag. That's just the way it was for a long time and these scraps were cooked, baked, fried in various ways.
When any time you cook a bone it depletes the mineral in that bone causing it to splinter or shard. This is especially true for avian bones because they're hollow — but all bones, even beef bones, can come off in these little arrowhead points which can be a big problem obviously.
Dehydrated, freeze-dried, raw avian bones are a beautiful healthy addition to your dog's diet. They provide vitamins, nutrients and lots of mental stimulation for your dog."
